Unfair competition litigation

The Firm has handled numerous litigations brought under California's unfair competition law as set forth in Business and Professions Code section 17200, et seq. (or UCL). Due to its extremely broad scope and potentially large damages, the UCL presently is a heavily litigated area for every person who sues a business in California. The UCL prohibits an extremely broad range of unlawful unfair and/or deceptive business practices although the typical remedy sounds in equitable relief, including injunctions and restitution, and not monetary damages. This Firm has both prosecuted and defended various UCL actions and we are well versed in the ever changing UCL law and litigation tactics. Topics under this area of law include false advertising and promotion; misleading or deceptive trade practices; and trade dress violations. This Firm also defends businesses in class action lawsuits based upon UCL-related claims for failure to pay wages and overtime and denial of meal or rest periods.
